We’ll meet at the lobby of our hotel in Lisbon at 6 pm to have our Camino presentation and our first dinner together. It’s the perfect moment to start sharing and tasting the unique local gastronomy and exquisite wines.

Night in Porto

Leaving Porto is always difficult but walking side by side with the blue ocean will help us. Literally over sand, wooden crosswalks, all our senses will be heightened.
Vila do Conde, with its 999 arches aqueduct and the impressive St. Clara Monastery of 1314 built in the delta of the Ave River will crown our day!!

Night in Valença

What do you say about starting your walking day on a 4th century BC Roman road? It’s the impressive 19th Roman Road that will guide us among forests, streams, ancient villages until we reach one of the biggest icons of the Portuguese Central Camino: the impressive Valença do Minho’s fortress! Originally from the 12th Century, it’s during the 17th century that gains dimension, due to the war between the Portuguese and Castille crowns.
We’ll be literally walking on and among history!

To cross the border between Portugal and Spain we won’t need a passport. You just need to keep all your senses sharp to enjoy the spectacular crossing of the Romanesque 19th century International Bridge and then, to enjoy the charm of the romantic old town of Tui. Tui’s Cathedral was built in 1225 but the original church is from the 6th Century.

Night in Pontevedra

Today, the fabulous panoramic views of the Vigo River, the important Ponte Sampaio’s Bridge and the arrival in Pontevedra, the Pilgrim City, will fill up our day. The historic old town, the ancient connection to the Camino and its architecture will inspire us to come back!

After crossing the Pontevedra bridge, we will join the agrarian path of the Salnés Spiritual Variant. In just seven km, we will reach the impressive 7th century Monastery of the Poio of Cistercian origin. Nearby, the idyllic and emblematic fishing village of Combarro will welcome us with its peculiar Hórreos and magnificent views of the Ría de Arousa. We will end this great day in the unforgettable 11th century Monastery of Armenteira.

This is a day that we will be happy is a long one. We will have the time to savor the beauty of the indescribable Water and Stone Route. Here we will find magical forests of chestnut, oak and pine trees. The air is filled with freshness and the sounds of a peaceful brook enhanced by the splashing of small waterfalls. At this point, we will enter the region of the vineyards of the Rías Baixas, famous for its white wines which we will be sure to taste!

It´s a stage where we can’t help but to relive the risky moments experienced by Teodoro and Atanasio with the body of St. James, to roam these paths to Campus Stellae and relive an odyssey that evokes wild bulls, bishops, a Queen and the restless spirit of man in achieving a higher objective.

Today, we walk into Santiago de Compostela! Over the historical stones of the magical old town of Santiago we’ll be embraced by the sound of bagpipes… Maybe, it’s time to leave the words for another moment… After attending to the Botafumeiro Ceremony at the Pilgrim Mass we’ll meet again to enjoy a guided visit and a very special celebration surprise dinner!

Night in Santiago

In the morning, led by a local historian, we’ll have a guided visit around Santiago where we’ll learn about the history and legends of this historical city. You’ll have a free afternoon to stroll around the beautiful Santiago, to do some shopping and, we’ll meet againg in our hotel to enjoy our Celebration dinner!!
When leaving Santiago behind, we’ll feel renewed and more prepared for the beginning of the new journey ahead, and, the words of the Portuguese Nobel Prize Saramago will make more sense than ever: “The end of a journey is simply the start of another. You have to go back to the footsteps already taken, to go over them again or add fresh ones, alongside them. You have to start the journey anew. Always.”
